Riversides School Outdoor Education
A very warm welcome to everyone visiting this spot. Whether you have been involved with our school for many years or have only recently begun your educational journey at Riversides, I hope you will find all the posts you see on these pages interesting and hopefully inspirational.
Let me start by outlining why Riversides School feel that our Outdoor Education sessions are such an impacting part of the provision we offer whilst also highlighting some of the many benefits that it can bring to our pupils.
We have a firmly held view that the regular Outdoor Education sessions that are timetabled weekly for all classes provide a platform for growth, exploration and hands-on experiences that establish strong foundations for life skills and subject knowledge.
Our Outdoor Education Tutor shares an enthusiastic belief in the positive impact on mental health and well-being that can be fostered by spending time outside. Below are a few ways we feel our Outdoor Education provision can present opportunities to develop a wide range of skills and abilities to help pupils achieve their full potential.
Building Social Skills
Environmental Awareness
Building Resilience
Wellbeing and Mental Health
Introduction and opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award
Above is the outline of the Outdoor Education ethos within RIversides, offering an insight into the ideals and beliefs that our Outdoor Education Tutor would like to introduce to the pupils during their time at Riversides. This, in turn, will hopefully enrich, engage and endear them to a long-lasting relationship with themselves and the Great Outdoors.
